Dr. Michael Baker

Patients come to Atlantic Plastic Surgery for aesthetic improvement. For plastic surgical procedures, this is accomplished through a safe and positive experience with our anesthesiologist. We are proud to have Dr. Michael Baker as our Director of Anesthesia since 2002.
Dr. Baker is also trained in internal medicine and has been practicing pain management, pre-operative medicine and anesthesia for over 25 years.

Dr. Baker is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesia and has guided our facility yearly through AAAASF certification and most recently Global certification.

Dr. Baker came to us from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston where he was Director of Ambulatory Anesthesia and Pre-Operative Testing, Clinical Director of the Operating Room, and an anesthesiologist for Anesthesia Associates of Massachusetts from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, Dr. Baker was both Director of Anesthesia and Director of Pain Management at York Hospital in York, Maine where Dr. Baker resides with his family. Dr. Baker was also a clinical instructor of Anesthesia for Harvard Medical School in 2001 and 2002.

The safety of the individual case before him, at each moment of the day, is Dr. Baker’s first and foremost concern. Dr. Baker is concerned not only with patient safety, but also with the entire perioperative experience of each patient which includes their entire experience before, during and after. Dr. Baker believes that details matter: checking, re-checking, follow-through– so that the patients will have the safest and most comfortable experience possible. ?I like to put myself in the patients experience and imagine how this would feel to me. I would want to have an easy experience and one in which I had full confidence in my safe emergence from the procedure.?, states Dr. Baker.

Dr. Baker maintains yearly professional education through professional organizations. He maintains American Board certifications for both Anesthesiology and Pain Management. He recently presented the study.
