Not as noticeable as you would expect today!

Often women are afraid it will be quite obvious that they have had "some work" done. But, face lifts today are not as noticeable as you would expect.  Patients who undergo a face lift today with the revolutionary cosmetic techniques simply look rested and healthy, instead of looking "lifted."

The face lift surgery Dr. Lawrence Gray performs at Atlantic Plastic Surgery Center is more effective and natural looking than ever.  Face lifts last longer with current surgical technologies and advancements.  Dr. Gray has a great deal of of experience and continually stays abreast of the latest and best methods available from attending professional conferences and constant reading of professional journals.  Dr. Gray tightens up not only the skin, but also the underlying tissue. Follow-up procedures can be performed over time to keep you looking good.

What does Face Lift Surgery Accomplish?

A face lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure in which the excess skin that is loose and sagging on the face and neck is removed. Eyelid surgery can also be done at the same time if there are bags or pouches around the eyes. Sometimes a brow lift is also performed to get the best result. The operation usually takes from one to three hours and is almost always done on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia and sedation.

This 53 year old woman wanted to correct the aging appearance of her face. She had loose and sagging skin and  was developing skin folds and deep wrinkles. She had an approaching high school reunion that motivated her to see Dr. Gray.  She was concerned about having a quick recovery so she could be fully healed when she saw her old classmates.  Dr. Gray recommended a short scar facelift. Unlike other surgical techniques that take over a month to be in public, the short scar allows patient to be back in public and at full activity in one week. The dressing was on for only 2 days after surgery. She said that she was proud of how good she looked for her age and was looking forward to her reunion.

Dr. Gray makes every effort to keep the scarring to a minimum. The incisions are made along natural skin lines and creases. Most of the scars are in the hairline and behind the ears. Incisions made at the front of the ears can be easily hidden with camouflage make-up.

A facelift tightens the excess skin and tissue, lessening and eliminating wrinkles and lines, and brings back the younger, more natural contours of your face. Our New Hampshire surgical facility, near Maine and Boston, Massachusetts, is equipped to perform the latest, most advanced facelift surgery possible.

The Mini-Face Lift

The short scar facelift, also known as the “mini-facelift”, often allows the patient to postpone the need for a full facelift for years. Many patients opt to have a mini-facelift before sagging facial skin becomes pronounced enough to require a full facelift. With a mini-facelift, shorter incisions are made around the ears and only minimal incisions are needed in the hairline. There is less bruising and recovery time is shorter than with a full facelift.

"MACS face lift with FATS" Demonstrate Better Results

Drs. Lawrence Gray and Brannon Claytor have been selected to present their paper entitled, "MACS Facelift with FATS" at the 91st annual meeting of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons in be held in San Francisco, California from April 14th to 17th, 2012. The poster presentation is based on Dr. Gray's experience over a five-year period. Dr. Gray has modified the MACS face lift by introducing the "Finger Assisted Tissue Separation" (FATS) technique resulting in quicker recovery, fewer complications, and better results.

The FATS technique is a simpler and safer procedure. Preserving the natural fat and repositioning it provides a bloodless operative field and the finger assisted tissue separation (FATS) allows minimal use of previous methodology.  Facial aging is a result of years of the natural gravitational pull between the skin and facial skeleton leading to the sagging of the skin and loss of elasticity. Sagging is made worse by the weight of added fat. Previous methods used cautery to assist in the operation. Using the MACS Facelift with FATS, Dr. Gray is able to avoid previous methods, minimizing loss of volume of facial tissue.

The MACS Facelift with FATS enables Dr. Gray to preserve and reposition existing fat instead of trying to replace it by using fat injections, which are less predictable. The big advantage is that patients appear more natural and are able to return to social activities, often in one week. With the MACS Facelift with FATS the results are more predictable, have less bleeding and require no use of drains, which are used with most other techniques. Dr. Gray has achieved better results using the MACS face lift with Finger Assisted Tissue Separation (FATS) now for more than 8 years. The results appear to have a long lasting result.
