This 52 year old woman disliked the dark circles under her eyes and felt frustrated with frequent remarks that she looked tired. Dr. Gray agreed with her that she had significant loose skin on both her upper and lower eyelids. He recommended an upper and lower blepharoplasty. She chose to have the procedure under local anesthesia (over sedation in which she would be “asleep”) to save money, a choice many patients opt for. She was very comfortable and in no pain during the procedure under local anesthesia. She used antibiotic ointment for a week on the incisions. There were no dressings with this procedure. She iced her eyes gently for two days and was in back to her normal activities the following week. Other methods, such as laser treatment or chemical peels, can not accomplish the same tightening of the upper and lower eyelids.
